From www.gateworld.net: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stargate SG-1 video games in developmentMARCH 22, 2004 The word that Stargate fans and video gamers have been waiting for is finally here! MGM Interactive and Australia-based Perception announced today that they have entered into a licensing agreement to create video games based on the hit Stargate franchise. No details on specific releases are available yet, but the games will be published by Austria-based JoWood Productions Software. It is likely that the first games will be developed for at least one of the current generation consoles. Perception has previously announced that it is developing yet to be revealed titles for X-Box, PS2, and the PC. The first SG-1 title could arrive in 2005. "Stargate SG-1 enjoys phenomenal devotion from viewers around the globe and we expect the game to appeal to those faithful viewers and the gaming market as a whole," said Ben Lenzo, Perception's Managing Director. "We think Stargate SG-1 is a perfect premise for great games. We'll be announcing more details about the specifics of our first Stargate game in coming months." ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope they get it done quickly (though not at the expense of quality, of course).

Just one question. It is Australia? Or Austria?

The way I understand it, the company that will be producing the games is based in Australia. The company that will be distributing the games is based in Austria. Yeah, I was a little confused by that at first, too.
Usually the company that makes the games doesn't also distribute them. For example, all the Age of Empires games have two names on them (other than their own): Ensemble Studios and Microsoft (you can go look if you want).
Ensemble Studios actually CREATED the game. Microsoft marketed it and distributed it to stores and places like that.
It's the same for movies and T.V. shows, too. Take Stargate SG-1 for example. MGM holds the rights to the show, which means they can basically do whatever they want with it. MGM is also in charge of distributing and marketing the show, which includes not only the show itself but any related merchandise.
The actual filming and production is done through a collaboration of two companies: Double Secret Productions, which is owned by Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright (the two people who created the show with MGM's permission) and Gekko Film Corp., which is owned by Michael Greenburg and Richard Dean Anderson (who are both executive producers).
At least that's how I understand it.

I would play that twenty four seven and talk about it all the time and play and play and play, except during school....and when I'm asleep....and when I eat....and when I go to practice...and...crap! I would still play it quite a bit though. I would love to turn the Stargate on and off on and off and waste the United States tax money!!!

You can't play it 24/7. What about when the show comes on?

That would go under other stuff like school and sleep and what not. What am I saying? Who needs sleep when you're playing and watching Stargate? I have an idea, I can watch Stargate, and play it at the same time!!!! Yeeeesss!!! And with that, I will rule the world.

Well, they're also planning to make it for a PC platform. And last time I checked, Valandil practically lives on his computer, so there wouldn't be a problem, would there?

Well, I guess not, but Valandil has to be working on his movies if that's what this board's gonna be centered around.

Are we really gonna center this site around Valandil's movies? What about our movies?

Sorry, but apparently they're not as good quaility as mine, so, nah nah nah nah naaaah naaah! And plus, I have lots more movies, so if we put one up every week, that makes like 3 or 4 months taken care of already.

Not from what I've seen. You have maybe...14 movies. That's 14 weeks.... Wait...okay, never mind.
