Holy shit! That's gonna be so awesome. Okay, that does it, season 9's gonna be awesome. Ben Browder's awesome at playing the confused, gung-ho character. That is the best choice possible to replace Jack.

YES! I thought they were going to get some lame person like the one that tried to replace Jackson a couple season ago when he was dead.

Yeah, Jonas was okay, but he just didn't fit the whole Stargate appeal. He seemed too much like the Daniel Jackson from the movie, which doesn't go too well together with the current cast, because they all kind of grew together.

The problem with Jonas is that they didn't give him any kind of personality. He just kind of hung around in the background all the time. Plus, he always wanted to be on Jack's good side. Daniel had no problem with telling Jack off and it was interesting. But Jonas was always all like "Yes, sir" and that was it.
And about Ben Browder...I'm not hot on the idea of having him join the cast. I guess it's because I loathed Farscape. Having him and Claudia Black both on there makes me think that their show sucked so now they have to come make SG-1 suck. Just because Stargate is the best thing science fiction television has going for it right now (really, who else is there? Star Trek? Excuse me while I stop laughing) doesn't mean all the sci-fi rejects have to come in riding SG-1's coattails.

Okay, yeah Claudia Black is riding the coattails because she is in fact the exact same character. But from what I've read Ben Browder is gonna be a different character. Not to mention he's gonna be a main character (maybe leader of SG-1) so I don't look at it as just being in the right place at the right time.

Yeah, who does he think he is, becoming leader of SG-1 right off the bat? I think Carter should be leader. I think that's what they're going to do, after she comes back from missing the first five episodes.
I'm just concerned. Do I need to remind anyone of another new character who joined a show's cast during its ninth season? A character named Monica Reyes?

That's not gonna happen, because Stargate writers got that out of the way with Teyla.

Damn it, JAG, you made me choke on my popcorn!
I think I will go make a Teyla-bashing thread in the Atlantis forum.

You should. Then we can start something in Writer's Hangout titled "Make up "Teyla" Jokes." Like "yo mama" jokes, you know?
Example:
Teyla's so stupid she doesn't realize that her existence on the show consists of total hypocrisy and redundancy.

Good idea, except I think it would be better in the Atlantis forum. That place needs some posts.

That's a good point.

Teyla would have been okay if they didn't feel the need to give her every extra part in the script, like Wriath detector, best fighter, leader of her people, Shepherd's obvious love intrest, and the one everyone has to sympathize for because she gets blamed for all Wraith problems. Maybe like 2 of those things, but not all of them.

Exactly. She is what is known as a "Mary Sue."
But this is straying into an Atlantis topic, so I'll stop now.

That's not entirely bad. Daniel Jackson has slowly developed into a "Mary Sue." He's the muscle, the brain, the leader, the sex appeal and the guy who figured out how to cheat death all in one.
