Okay, so what do you all think of this? Zek and I are thinking about starting a genuinely clean Kokomo drama department. So, we went through a few ideas and finally came to the conclusion of an acting troupe. Me and Zek are starting it, and we're gonna get 8 other actors.
We have some problems though. Are there legal procedures to follow to start an acting troupe that's actually active? We have no experts on acting, so I'm asking whoever wants to answer.
So, the idea is to do a lot of skits and some improv. Maybe a play like in the summer or something. We can't decide on whether to travel around or to just stay at the Highland Park stage like they did with Shakespeare in the Park.
So, can anyone tell me if there's any legal procedures to follow for an acting troupe?
The other question is this. How do you think we should go about doing this? Open opinions on free to address to me. Not necessarily an answer, but whether or not you like it.

I don't know anything about legal issues, but to start something like this you're going to need funding, and PR to advertise. As far as using facilities at Highland Park, you either probably need to rent the stage or convince the parks department to donate its use to you. As far as renting goes, they're probably not going to want to rent it to someone under eighteen. You probably won't be able to get funding either, for the same reason. Sucks, but that's the way the world works.
If you're serious about this, maybe find a legal adult willing to act as a front man for the organization. This is, of course, if you want this to be a serious community thing and not just something where you go around and perform in your friends' backyards.
I don't really know anything else. I will look information up later. E-mail Spike. He co-founded Shakespeare in the Park, and he tried to start something like an acting troupe a couple years ago (funding fell through so nothing ever came of it). He would know a lot more about what you need to do and any legal or practical issues surrounding it.

Yeah, apparently Spike's trying to start one of those back up again. Anyway, I had considered that. The fact that they wouldn't want to donate the stage to us or us getting funding because we were under 18 started me thinking. I asked Ms. Mitchell(Mrs. Week's assistant down at the highschool) about it today, she doesn't know how it would work outside of school.
I didn't get a chance to talk to Mrs. Weeks, though, not enough time after school between the bell and the bus. Anyway, I guess the whole finding an adult to front it was the ultimate question I was asking. It turns out that we'll probably have three people to start with, because David Stout's gonna be helping Zek and I out a lot so yeah.
Thanks for the help, and yes I am really serious about this.

Do you know what Spike's trying to start up? Maybe you could just go in with him.

Well, he's gonna actually go out of town and stuff, we wouldn't be able to do it.
