A lot of people don't like this movie, well piss on them. I just don't think most of them get it. And if they do, maybe it's just one of those movies that you have to like the type to get into it. I loved it. I liked all the subtle, and not so subtle, tendencies to show how it was related to the Grimm Fairy Tales.
I'm gonna explain how it's all connected to try to help you understand. As far as I can figure, the two main characters, Will and Jake Grimm (Matt Damon and Heath Ledger), are the actual writers of the Grimm Fairy Tales. Will doesn't care about fantasy at all and just likes to make money. Whereas Jake is actually a scholar on old fairy tales and is working on his own book (could it be the Grimm Fairy Tales book?) Anyway, they go from town to town, conning people into believing that there are witches and ghosts and that only the Grimm brothers can get rid of them.
It's actually quite a comical movie if you like that type of humor. After they get to the real story though, it gets extremely serious while the brothers have to risk their lives trying to save a town that's really in trouble. And the whole time, the French King wants them dead.
Not gonna tell you how it turns out, though. You'll have to watch it in theaters and find out for yourselves.
9 out of 10.
