This is my NaNo StOrY in multiple posts (I will post them as I write them, settle down!)

Chapter 1
Pre-war
A pale man, tall and bulky, leaned back in a chair, while obviously during breakfast, was reading the paper. The cover of it was in color, showing a picture of a space transport being blown apart by a missile. The title above the picture read “Crises against Legionnaires, possible war to come.” There was much text underneath it.
“Looks like they’re at it again.” said the pale bulky man. “The United Planets Federation isn’t going to stand for this much longer. If they don’t back off, they’re going to be in a lot of trouble.”
“I don’t think so, haven’t we put up with them for this long because we won’t be able to do anything against them?” Said a short woman who had just entered the room.
“Well, what they don’t know, is that we’ve made something that would make their entire army quiver.”
“Really, now?” The woman asked in disbelief.
“Yeah, but I can’t tell you, it’s classified. But I can tell you this, if they don’t back off, the entire galaxy is going to know all about it.” The man said with a dead serious tone in his voice.
“Hm, I just hope it’s not a repeat of last time you all tried this.”
“It’s not going to be, don’t worry.” The man closed the paper and put it under his arm.
“Leaving so soon?” The lady asked.
The man looked at her for a second. “Yeah, I have
things to do. Like my job.” With that, the man nodded his head towards her, and walked away.
As he reached the door, he heard something, lifted his head, and opened the door to walk outside.
* * *
As he stepped outside, the man was filled with a sensation of goodness as his lungs filled with the fresh air outside. He had spent so much of his time indoors working from home on his computer, mainly typing things all day, that he had almost forgotten the smell of fresh air.
He took a large whiff, and walked along the sidewalk to the transportation station.
When he got there, there were herds of people about everywhere, running this way, running that. Complete and utter chaos among them. People who had lost track of time and were running to catch their Traif, other mearly wondering aimlessly, not knowing what to do.
But John, knew what he was doing. He was to get on his Traif, and go to Washington DC on an important business trip that he was called in for. Above all else, he was the one called in. He wasn’t usually the one called in, which is why he didn’t argue about it; but it did leave him in wonderment on why they would call him in and not someone else.
So he just assumed they had a reason and went on with his life, waiting for this day.
He got through the crowd, after having shoved and pushed almost everyone out of his way, to his Traif. Now, this wasn’t like all the other Traif’s he had seen. This one was special. A special order for him that the Government designated for him.
