More exciting Stargate news! First of all, the season 6 DVD set just came out today, so I expect to receive my preordered copy from Amazon.com any day now. Also, lots more news about the Stargate spin-off, called Stargate Atlantis: 1. Daniel and Jack are going to be in the first episode, which will air sometime this July. 2. Robert Patrick (aka John Dog . . . get from X-Files) will also have a guest star role in the first episode. He's playing a general. 3. Now, I was of the opinion that Corin Nemec, who played Jonas Quinn, should have been a regular cast member, considering he was booted off SG-1 just when he was getting interesting. Sadly, that is not going to happen. BUT . . . they've gone and done the next best thing. Official word is that one of the REGULAR cast members of Atlantis is going to be David Hewlett, who guest starred on SG-1. He was McKay, the arrogant physicist guy who kept pissing off Sam in a couple episodes. He's part of the new Atlantis team (which looks an awful lot like SG-1). To see what I mean, here's a link to a picture of the Atlantis team: www.gateworld.net/atlantis/s1/graphics/100_01.shtml

So this Hewlett guy is gonna be the next Carter? Or Daniel?

Well, I think he's supposed to be a civilian scientist, so that would make him more like Daniel.
A really snarky, arrogant Daniel.
Who Oma Desala wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.

Umm...I'd say 50 foot pole.

True . . . I can't wait to see if Carter guest stars on an episode.

Why would Carter guest star on the show? That just doesn't make any sense. She shouldn't have anything to do with it at all. To tell you the truth, I never much liked Carter.

True, I think she's the least interesting of the four. Though why do you think she would have no reason to guest star? Jack and Daniel are going to guest star, so why couldn't Carter at some point?

Jack and Daniel are guest starring as a publicity stunt to get people started on the show so they'd keep watching for other possible guest stars to pop up. Carter's not nearly as popular as Jack and Daniel.

If you say so. I still think there's no reason why Carter couldn't guest star on a couple episodes or something. Do you also think Teal'c shouldn't guest star? Isn't he a popular character? Oh, and I made my own list of "Signs You've Been Watching Too Much Stargate" and put it on my site. Take a look (the link below). You just may find yourself on there . . . www.ahryantah.freeservers.com/signs.html

Well, I actually had more than 20, but decided to stop there because it was a round number, and because it allowed me to leave out some of the lamer ones.
Some that didn't make the list:
21) (as a companion to the Christmas list one): The second item is "staff weapon." - That one just seemed a lame follow-up to what I already had.
22) Vancouver isn't just a city in Canada. - This one is silly because half of the T.V. shows in the U.S. are filmed there, so it could apply to any of them, not just Stargate.
23) You know what cryptic acronyms such as HC, S/J, and FIAD stand for. - I took this one out because I wanted to distance the list from the online fandom because I hate it. And if you're wondering: HC = Hurt and Comfort, a really stupid genre of fanfic. S/J = Sam and Jack, as two characters who should have a romance with each other. FIAD = acronym for the episode "Forever in a Day."
24) You can recite every episode verbatim. - Gone because I can't, and neither can you guys or Kevin, and I was trying to keep the list to things that we'd all actually done (except for the voting for General Hammond thing, which was in itself an inside joke).
I'm thinking there were a couple more bad ones, but I can't remember them right now. But I think you get my point.
(and I get yours)

I have a question. Who's this Hewlett guy you were talking about in the first couple of posts?

He's just an actor that's going to play one of the main characters on Stargate Atlantis, which is the spin-off series from Stargate SG-1. He also guest starred in a couple of episodes of SG-1 as the same character he's going to play on Atlantis.
My point was that I thought it's a good thing they're bringing over at least a minor character from the original series, instead of just making up all new characters. I think having lots of links with the original series will bring in viewers, at least at first, and then hopefully the show is good enough that they'll continue watching. They did the same thing when they transitioned from the movie to the series. You'll notice that in the very first episode of SG-1 they go out of their way to establish links with the movie (making Michael Shanks look like James Spader, mentioning O'Neill's dead son, bringing back Kawalsky and Feretti, Skaara trying to give the lighter back to O'Neill, Sam mentioning that she should have gone through the gate with Daniel and Jack the first time, etc, etc).

No, I didn't notice. I've never seen the first episode. Thanks for answering my question, though.
